Dr. Rajat Panwar
Dr. Rajat Panwar is an interdisciplinary scholar with interests at the interface of sustainable business management and forest resources. He is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Business Management and Director of Sustainable Business program at Walker College of Business, Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.
Dr. Panwar earned two doctoral degrees; one in Corporate Sustainability and another in Forestry. He is actively engaged in both fields. To date, Dr. Panwar has co-edited two books and published 30 peer-reviewed articles in business management, forestry, and interdisciplinary journals.
He is a past editor of Bioproducts Business, a renewable material focused journal, and a past Associate Editor of the Organization & Natural Environment (ONE) and Social Issues in Management (SIM) divisions of the Academy of Management. Recently, Dr. Panwar and his research on supply-chain-related emissions have been featured in a Forbes article on climate change.
Dr. Panwar is also the Deputy Coordinator of Division 5.0, IUFRO International from 2014 to present. He is a member of the Academy of Management and of the International Association for Business and Society. Dr. Panwar was also the former Leader of the India Expansion Initiative of the International Association for Business and Society.
Dr. Panwar has raised over USD 650,000 (in the US and Canada) in competitive academic grants either as a principal or a co-principal investigator. He is also a versatile instructor with experience teaching classes at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels in different parts of the world. Dr. Panwar has been an Affiliate Faculty at the College of Forestry, Oregon State University, and with the Governance, Environment, and Markets program at the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Yale University. He has also been previously appointed as the Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility at the Department of Management in Northland College, USA. Dr. Panwar also taught at Pontificia Universidad Catolica De Chile in Chile, at the University of Forestry and Economics in China, at the University of Helsinki in Finland, at Jindal Global Business School in India, and at Shobhit University in India. His teaching interests include Social Entrepreneurship, Bioeconomy, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Sustainable Business Management. Dr. Panwar earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics from CCS University in India. While he earned his MBA in Strategy and Marketing from Lucknow University in India. Dr. Panwar then earned his Doctor of Business Administration in Corporate Sustainability from Grenoble École de Management, France, and his Ph.D. in Forest Sector Sustainability from Oregon State University, USA.
Dr. Panwar will be deployed at De La Salle University in Metro Manila for the 2020 Visiting Professors activity.
